Today, Buck didn’t believe me when I told him I saw a softcore porn movie starring preacher Marjoe and Linda “Wonderwoman” Carter on HBO in 1979. So I looked it up to prove it to him. It was called Bobby Jo and The Outlaw. It was terrible, and HBO ran it over and over and over and over …. it was on every morning and then again at night. I had three roommates at the time and during the morning viewing we’d pelt cereal at the TV. The script had Marjoe and Linda Carter and all their friends taking a lot of peyote, which made them want to get naked and go swimming, then shoot people.
I remember that movie! Remember the movie “Marjoe?” Was there a book too? I used to be fascinated by him. I have to go look him up.

No, I did not know he was married to Candy Clark! How odd of her to marry him. But it only lasted a year, so I guess she came to her senses pretty quickly. I used to be fascinated by him too, I would look at him on TV shows and try to understand the whole evangelist thing. Last year I watched the documentary “Marjoe” and concluded that the best part was the beginning, the footage of him as a child preacher. The rest of it was so monotonous. And he definitely looks like the dentist on Newhart. They could be twins.
Yeah, peyote does that to me too. Fortunately after the swimming I’m so nautious and jittery that I almost never hit anyone.
@ David – You and Marjoe should team up with Wade Davis and build a sweat lodge. No swimming involved.
